Culinary experiences
For 30 years...or however long Jette's Diner has been here, I've eaten my burger at the restaurant or taken it home. It's informal and cosy enough for me, and the burger tastes really good! Then you can go for a walk down to Frederiksø afterwards, it's always buzzing with life there on a lovely summer evening.

Culture
As a big animal lover, I would recommend visiting Naturama if you want to have a great experience in Svendborg and the good thing is that it is just as much for children as for adults. We must take care of our vulnerable nature, and the first step is education and finding the joy and fascination in nature.

Nature
If you want to experience nature in Svendborg, I would definitely recommend taking a trip out on the sound, preferably in a kayak or on a SUP board. And if it's summer, preferably late or early in the day, so you can enjoy the tranquillity and the wonderful wildlife we have in and on the sound. I myself am out on the Sound almost every day, all year round. I would recommend that you rent kayaks and SUPs from Lifeplan friluftsliv and Sydfyns Bådudlejning (Boat Rental).

The uniqueness of Svendborg
I've lived in Svendborg or on Tåsinge since I was 10 years old, with a few detours to Copenhagen, Odense and Germany, but I've always returned. Svendborg has the perfect nature for a happy sailor like me, and then we have the entire South Funen Archipelago with a string of the most beautiful small islands right outside the door. It doesn't get any better than that. The size of the city also suits me just fine.
When I have guests visiting
If I have visiting guests, I take them for a trip to the harbour to say hello to my seagull friends, and then we take a trip on the sound so they can experience Svendborg from the sea. It has to be in my little sailboat or on the SUP board.

I would definitely recommend future visitors to take a trip to Svendborg around the autumn equinox in September and subsequent weekend. Svendborg Amateur Sailing Club organises the world's largest single-handed race with 450 participants, where they sail single-handedly around Funen, starting and finishing in Svendborg. It's called Silverrudder. It's a great experience to walk around the harbour in the days leading up to the race and feel the atmosphere and see all the beautiful sailboats. And then you have to give yourself the experience of going to Christiansminde on Friday morning to see the start, it's a wild sight.
