Art and beautiful nature experiences

Svendborg is a city with a rich artistic environment that is not to be missed in the cityscape and in the cultural centres you can visit. If you are interested in art, you should visit Gallery DGV, which is housed in the beautiful Villa Tårnborg. Here you can experience art from many recognised Danish and foreign artists, and from Villa Tårnborg you also have the most beautiful view over Svendborg Sound. The gallery is located next to Christiansmindestien, which is an incredibly beautiful walk that takes you along the water towards the city.

A taste of Svendborg's vibrant city life

As you stroll through the old streets and discover hidden alleys and well-preserved half-timbering and small unique shops, it is clear that Svendborg is a trading town with a long history. Visit Svendborg on a Saturday and experience the cosy Torvedag, which is every Saturday from 7:00-14:00 at Svendborg Torv. Here you have the opportunity to buy seasonal produce from local producers. Explore stalls selling vegetables, fish, local handicrafts, beautiful flowers and unique South Funen products.

Lunch break in the cosy streets of the city

When you get hungry, Svendborg has a wealth of eateries that focus on local produce from South Funen. Here you can enjoy everything from freshly caught fish to vegetables and meat from local producers, served in everything from classic dishes to modern interpretations. If you'd rather take your food with you, you can choose a to-go solution from one of the city's historic bakeries and take your sandwich or salad down to the harbour. Here you can enjoy your food along the harbour promenade with a view of the old wooden ships docked in the harbour.

A mysterious story - audio walk in the beautiful Nørreskov forest

Are you full of food and art? Then you can experience the beautiful nature of the South Funen Archipelago in a new and unique way: hear the mystery of Elvira Madigan and Sixten Sparre while taking a walk in the beautiful nature with an audio walk that takes you from Valdemar Castle and through Nørreskoven, in the footsteps of the tragic fate of the young line dancer. The tour ends at the southern end of Nørreskoven, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Lunkebugten Bay.

Tapas, wine and cocktails at one of Svendborg's cosy bars

End the day with a visit to Svendborg's food scene. Here you can explore everything from restaurants serving locally sourced dishes like freshly caught fish and local vegetables from South Funen, to cosy wine bars like Vinsted, with its 700 different wines in the cellar, to atmospheric cocktail spots like Bar 105. Whether you're looking for a dinner with a focus on local produce or prefer to enjoy a drink in good company, Svendborg's cobbled streets offer plenty of opportunities for a wonderful evening experience.
