The locals recommend: Helle Troelsen
About Helle Troelsen
59 years old
Garden architect and owner of Troensehaven.
Originally from Silkeborg, but has lived most of his adult life on Funen. Since 2012 she has lived in Troense.
Helle has always thought that Silkeborg and Svendborg are similar, and that if she were to move from her home region, it would be to Svendborg, where there is plenty of culture, nature and water.
Culinary experiences
I would particularly like to emphasise Restaurant Resumé, which serves amazing food. I was involved in the restaurant's move from the premises in Møllergade to Den Blå Kirke, where I was responsible for the design of the garden, which is almost entirely planted with edible plants. I've also had great culinary experiences at Bar 105.

If you want some really good bread to take home with you, I highly recommend Baguette in Møllergade. And if you love exciting wines, you'll almost never go wrong at Økologisk Vinimport (Organic Wine Import) in Møllergade.
Another great experience is to visit the various culinary events and markets in Svendborg, including Kulinarisk Sydfyn and the Beer Festival on Frederiksøen.

Culture
First and foremost, I'd like to emphasise the wide range of cultural opportun in Svendborg. There's always something to choose from, whether you're into music, theatre, lectures, art, etc. For example, I never go in vain when I visit SAK (art gallery) and the changing exhibitions that are shown there.
If you like jazz, Giant Steps has many great concerts with some of the country's best jazz musicians and fantastic foreign musicians.
BaggårdTeatret shows experimental performances where you can be both entertained and surprised. A great experience is to combine your hike with storytelling and ‘Invisible Theatre’ in their Audiowalk, which you can download on their app. There are several fantastic options in and around Svendborg.
Nature
Svendborg is surrounded by stunning nature wherever you are. A walk along the water always offers beautiful nature experiences. I'm particularly fond of Tåsinge, where I live. A walk through Nørreskoven, around the point behind Valdemars Slot and along the beautiful old houses on Troense Strandvej is worth a visit.
The Archipelago Trail is also worth following, and if you choose to hike a further distance, there are several accommodation options in shelters. A good place to spend the night is at Thurø Rev (Thurø Reef).
You can make a detour in Troense on Tåsinge and see the old village with preserved houses and a cosy marina.
The unique thing about Svendborg and Tåsinge is that it is surrounded by water. There is an atmosphere of cosy island culture
The uniqueness of Svendborg
The unique thing about Svendborg and Tåsinge is that it is surrounded by water. There is an atmosphere of cosy island culture, especially if you do some island hopping in the South Funen Archipelago. You can enjoy Svendborg and Tåsinge from the sea, go ashore on Skarø and Drejø, take a hike around the islands and finish with delicious food and drinks at one of the small local island cafés.

When I have guests visiting
Returning guests want to walk around Troense and feel the atmosphere of the small village. They always have to pop into the local grocery store Storms Hjørne, run by volunteer residents.
Others like to take a walk on Frederiksøen and enjoy a cold beer at Kammerateriet beach bar. This can be combined with a boat trip with Helge, who takes us almost from door to door. For longer visits, island hopping in the South Funen Archipelago is always popular.
