Culinary experiences
At Bar 105 in Møllergade, I've enjoyed a lot of lovely wine and delicious tapas in good company. It has a great atmosphere and attentive service.
Restaurant Resumé is also one of my favourite places when I really want to celebrate something: the place really succeeds in creating an atmospheric overall experience for all the senses. The space in Den Blå Kirke (The Blue Church), where Resumé is located, is incredibly beautiful and decorated with elements from nature, which is both cosy and a bit solemn. It makes you lower your shoulders and breathe in deeply - and that makes good food taste better. The food is both beautiful and incredibly delicious. Last time I ate there, I tried the juice menu, which was an amazing flavour experience in itself.
Culture
I want to emphasise the library's CREATE festival, where we create lots of experiences with comics, games and animation every two years. For a week in the middle of winter, you get to meet artists, see exhibitions and films, participate in artist talks and take part in various drawing workshops. Mostly at the library, but the festival also spreads out into the city to VUC (Adult Education Centre), SAK (Art Gallery), the Town Hall and schools that play with and involve students in the fantastic universes of visual stories. In 2023, I was lucky enough to meet artists and huge inspirations like Danish visual artists Nikoline Werdelin, Karoline Stjernfelt and Jannik Hastrup. I can't wait to be a part of CREATE again in early 2025.

I've had some strong concert experiences at Harders. The size and staffing of the venue just makes the atmosphere both intimate and relaxed. One summer evening a couple of years ago, I experienced When Saints Go Machine, which I've also seen before and also since then at other, larger venues, but the evening at Harders was really something else. We were much closer to the music.
I've also experienced a couple of concerts during the Svendborg International Organ Festival. Yes, we have one of those, and it's a wild experience to hear talented organists from all over the world playing the queen of instruments in Skt. Nicolaj Church.
Finally, I must mention BaggårdTeatret, my colourful old friend. I grew up with their progressive children's theatre and as an adult I have grown into their always curious approach to the art form. The complete theatre experience The Feather and the Rose at Svendborg Harbour a few years ago was a very good example of what BaggårdTeatret and this city can do: combine good forces and flourish for the benefit of all - under the open sky, also in a figurative sense.
Nature
I love that the most beautiful places in and around Svendborg can be experienced by foot, running or cycling. The Archipelago Trail makes it possible to experience all the best of this place without any filters or obstacles. You can just walk. Over the years I have run, hiked, cycled and skied on the path along the old railway route as much as possible and they've always been some of my favourite things to do. Especially when people have their dogs on a lead.

It's beautiful here, it's a space with a lot of room to breathe, and the nearest big city is so far away that we only have the fun we make ourselves, so that's what we do!
The uniqueness of Svendborg
Why have I returned to Svendborg? It's been really hard not to. A big part of me just belongs here. It's beautiful here, it's a space with a lot of room to breathe and the nearest really big city is so far away that we only have the fun we make ourselves, so that's what we do!
When I have guests visiting
When I have guests visiting Svendborg, I show them the old sailing boat bridge. I love looking at the old, beautiful boats myself, and if there's someone on board, they're always happy to chat and tell stories. And then we also take a peek inside the workshops of the local craftsmen, Glasblæseriet, a local glass blower, and ceramicist Ulla Sonne. And of course, I take my guests to Kostumariet, a costume museum on Frederiksø to see Thomas Sjølander's mind-blowing creations and world-class embroidery art, which is right there in the centre of our city.
